With great pride and pleasure, Stichting Bayanihan, Philippine Women’s Centre in the Netherlands, invites you to a Benefit Concert entitled “Bridging Faith and Culture” with the Palawan Chamber Choir (PCC).

Stichting Bayanihan came to know of PCC during their European Tour in August 2005 when it organised a well-acclaimed concert in Amsterdam to raise funds for the PCC projects. This time PCC comes back to Europe with a new repertoire. This 1½ -hour programme of music and dances features Philippine folk and indingenous music, church hymns and spiritual songs, interspersed with known classics and pop songs. 

The “Bridging Faith and Culture” concert is the closing activity of our year –long celebration of Bayanihan’s 15^th year Anniversary of working with and for migrant women in the Netherlands. We are taking this opportunity to again ask friends and supporters to extend a little help to sustain the continuity of our work through this special concert. The proceeds will go into funding Bayanihan’s core activities and to support the projects of PCC in the Philippines.

This evening is also dedicated to our volunteers whose efforts and commitment make the implementation of Bayanihan’s programmes and activities possible in the past 15 years.

In light of shrinking government subsidies for migrant’s and women’s work in the Netherlands and to ensure the continuation of our mission to contribute to the empowerment and integration of Filipinas, Bayanihan embarks on various fund raising activities, such as this benefit concert. We hope that you will help us carry on with our mission through this special concert.

The Palawan Chamber Choir

Success is indeed the fruit of hard labor mixed with patience, determination and       solidarity founded on strong faith in God. All these factors have contributed to the   success of the Palawan Chamber Choir (PCC).  Today, it remains strong as an organization that seeks to provide opportunities to young individuals with unparalleled musical talents, discipline and commitment to serve the Lord.  

It all started as a school-based performing group of the Holy Trinity College in the late 1980s. The group consequently gained recognition in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, and in the entire country because of the exceptional quality of their performances. Subsequently, their commitment enabled the group to venture into performances abroad in the 1990s. To date, they have performed in Singapore,

Thailand, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands and the United States of America.

Having gained recognition practically the world over, the school-based performing group moved on to become a community of performers with a vision and mission— bringing evangelization to all people. Today, the Palawan Chamber Choir has matured from merely being a singing group that aspired to provide entertainment to a group propelled by a mission to respond to the pastoral needs of the Palawan church and to be a herald of evangelization to the contemporary world.

Last June 2004, twelve deserving members were enrolled through the scholarship program extended by Missio-Aachen, Germany. In like manner, the group is now a partner of the social apostolate arm of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa, Palawan—helping to facilitate community-based programs for the indigenous peoples of Palawan and other sectors of society, like women and children. 

The Palawan Chamber Choir members constantly face the challenge of excellence as they continue to gain recognition and appreciation around the world for the uniqueness of their songs and performances.  With this challenge, coupled with their new vision to become apostolic bearers of Christ’s mission, they responsively commit to make a difference in a complex and fragmented world.

• PCC Pastoral Project
  This is another project of the PCC that aims to help the less fortunate and abused street children of the city giving emphasis on their  integral formation.
  a) Spiritual and Socio Pastoral Formation     
  b) Formal Education/Sponsorship Program       
  c) Temporal Assistance
  d) Research, Documentation and Advocacy on the Rights of Children
